Add and Scan Disk in Linux VM Online
As a System Admin, you always have minimum downtime to perform any activity on server.
In this article we will learn to scan new disk without rebooting system.
1. Add new Disk
Go to VM Machine Setting and add new Disk
Select "Hard Disk" and click "Next"
Select "Disk Type"
Select "Create New Disk"
Specify Disk Capacity
Click on "Finish"
Once you Add disk successfully in Linux you need to scan Disk to get it visible in "fdisk" utility.
2. Scan Disk
Login into machine with Putty or some other SSH Client application with sudo privileged user
This is right approach to scan new disk while system powered on

# echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host#/scanIn host# you need to replace files available in '/sys/class/scsi_host'
In scan command it will check for: "-" Every Channel "-" Every Target "-" Every LUN
